Cochrane Gynaecological Cancer Group

Scope of our work

Gynaecological Cancer Reviews:
The scope of the group will include all of the following in relation to trials in gynaecological cancer:
• Prevention
• Screening for pre-malignant changes
• Strategies for early detection of cancer
• Treatment of early disease
• Treatment of late disease
• Palliative and supportive care (in conjunction with the Pain, Palliative and Supportive Care Group)
• Psychosocial interventions and outcomes, including rehabilitation

The Gynaecological Cancer group may have common areas of interest with other Cochrane Groups, notably:
• Pain, palliative and supportive care group
• Menstrual disorders and sub fertility group
• All other Cochrane Groups with cancer in their scope
Every effort is made to avoid duplication.

Orphan Cancer Reviews:
The Gynaecological Cancer CRG has, through Chris Williams, offered to provide the Cochrane Collaboration with an editorial base for cancer reviews outside the scope of any current CRG. There is inevitably no ‘scope’ as such for the orphan reviews, but until new CRGs are registered, reviews of the following would, for example, be considered as ‘orphans’:
• Neurological cancers
• Soft tissue sarcomas
• Aspects of care of cancer patients not relating to cancer of a specific site
